We’re after a brilliant, forward thinking freelance book keeper to do weekly book keeping for our independent jewellery business Petra Jewellery, based in Basingstoke. 


Your role

You need to be fairly local so you can come in to work in the office when required, although some work can be also carried out remotely as we use cloud systems Receipt Bank and Xero. 

We’d love to work with someone that really cares about helping us continue to grow and integrates themselves into the Petra Team and culture.

The more accounting skills you have the better, we want and value quality service and expect you to keep our accounts accurate ready for financial analysis each month.


Availability

We’d need the book keeping to be done on a set day each week plus have regular ‘phone and email contact the rest of the week.  We expect swift response times to queries.


The detail

We handle a large volume of supplier invoices and delivery notes each week which we have someone in an internal financial admin role checking and putting on to Receipt Bank once payment is authorised.  From there they need to be processed by our book keeper onto Xero and Aged Payables report.

Essential skills required:

  • Reconciling invoices and payments each week, highlighting any anomalies
  • Processing weekly sales figures by sales category
  • Checking Day End reports
  • Prepare Monthly Management Accounts
  • Quarterly VAT returns
  • Keep Fixed Asset Register up to date

Ideal additional responsibilities:

  • Running reports on Xero, going through them with the FD
  • Assist us in providing accurate job costing

Other elements to your role:

  • Work closely with the owner
  • Work closely with our accountants

    What’s on offer

    Free parking, close to Basingstoke railway station and J6, M3.  A lovely environment with café on site and Festival Place shopping center nearby.  Free drinks, regular social events: we want you to feel part of the team.

    Hours: We’d estimate half a day per week to do the general book keeping admin plus a couple of hours for project work and month end activities.  We’ll pay an agreed hourly rate and appreciate flexibility.
